About Us
Why are we here?
Advertising revenue has taken over the moral compasses of the editors and publishers of other game review sites. As such, my colleagues and I have decided to form TrustyGamer because there are too many game review sites that have become complete BS in the last few years. We at TrustyGamer will pull no punches. We don’t make our living from advertising, we all have day jobs. What minimal ads you find on this site exist to help fund our pizza habits, and doesn't put a dent in our hosting bill. Running this site is our own personal passion, and that passion cannot be bought and sold like every other review site out there. Sure, you’ve heard that before, but read on:
We buy our own games, and we get no freebies from the industry. As such, this allows us much freedom that other review sites do not have. We don’t have any big advertising agency sponsoring the front page of our site. Our modest advertising is the same nonsense you’d find on any of the smaller blogs. This gives us unprecedented freedom.
For example, let’s say a hot game comes out, but it winds up being complete BS, and as such, earns poor reviews. One such example was the Eidos title, Conflict: Denied Ops. This game was released to stores on its targeted street date, yet you couldn’t find a single review online for the game at the time of release. Metacritic sat there with no score for almost a full business week. Why? Did that happen with Halo 3? No… 10s and 9s abound on or before launch day for that title. The reason why C:DO had no published reviews is because the game sucks ass. The reviewers held their reviews so the game could actually sell a few copies before they bashed it. Do you think game reviews sites did this out of the kindness of their hearts? No… it was because Eidos indirectly (or maybe even directly?) paid them to hold their reviews.
This will NEVER happen at TrustyGamer. If we are ever late for any game review, it will be because we had to wait for it to hit the shelves so we could buy a copy, and then had to dedicate a decent amount of time to write a proper review. That being said, we will post initial impressions right away, which are nearly always a good indicator of how good the game will be. Yes, our previews are actually worth something, unlike EVERY OTHER review site out there. Remember how good Kane and Lynch looked in the previews those guys wrote up? Yeah, we were shocked too. No preview should make a game look like a AAA title, only to have it come out and completely suck. There is no reason for such a disparagement to exist between a preview and review, and you will see no such thing on our site.
Put your faith in us, and as a gamer, you will be rewarded.
Thank you, from all of us at TrustyGamer.

I've been gaming since I was 4, and it is one of the greatest passions of my life. It's great to know that there are sites like this one out there, sparing us the falsehoods that publishers put into their polished turds. I think it's important to any avid gamer to develop abilities of dissecting games for what they are, and if they are truly worth the time and hard-earned money. To all of you at this site, thank you.
