Uh oh... Hideo is not giving me the warm and fuzzies.

So Hideo Kojima said he is a little disappointed with how Metal Gear Solid 4 turned out...

WTF?  What are you doing, Hideo???  You're not going to sell copies with an attitude like that, kid.  Now since he is the creator of the series, he has a right to comment on his own disappointment, but seriously, can't you wait until the game comes out before you slam it?

Kojima-san isn't exactly giving PS3 fanboys the warm and fuzzies.  We've expressed our own concerns about how well MGS4 has to do in order to help the PS3 save face, and now it looks like this game might not be the juggernaut that the PS3 needs for its library.  It clearly isn't the juggernaut that Kojima envisioned, anyway.

Of course, let's not get ahead of ourselves.  Some will argue that Kojima is a complete perfectionist, etc., and that the game will still be amazing to us gamers, but still,... It just doesn't look good.  It makes you wonder if he is preparing for poor reviews and/or sales.  Truth be told, at this point poor sales will be an impossibility.  If nothing else, the complete dearth of AAA exclusive titles on the PS3 all but guarantees MGS4 to be a hit, regardless of what the final review scores might be.

We at TrustyGamer still think MGS4 will be a great game, even though Hideo isn't being a team player right now...

But what do you think?  Are you worried or not?  If nothing else, one thing is for sure:  All the PS3-is-more-powerful nonsense was all bullshit... but we already knew that, didn't we?

[Edit 5-12-2008]:  It looks like Hideo is backpedaling.  Blaming translation and American bravado...  Nice one Hideo, but we know the truth!

I don't know what to think about this game now...

Hideo said before that he wasn't happy when he had the trouble of fitting the game inside 50gB! He said that he wouldn't compress the audio and it almost took them over the limit. Seriously, he said that he wasn't happy because he couldn't do EVERYTHING he wanted. If it could, I'm sure it'd shoot pure joy into our eyes and be controlled with our minds. I'm sure the game will be great, it's just not going to be as absolutely massive as he wanted.

yeah, Kojima comes off as somewhat of a prude, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, he wants the conclusion of his story to be great. I'm not much of a MGS fan, but I'm sure it'll be a major success, worthy of its merits.
